EEG & Ambulatory EEG Testing
Accurate, Non-Invasive Brain Monitoring at Neurology Associates
P.C.
At Neurology Associates P.C., we offer in-office EEG and
ambulatory EEG services to monitor brain activity and help
diagnose a wide range of neurological conditions. These tests
are safe, painless, and essential for identifying abnormalities
such as seizures, epilepsy, or unexplained cognitive changes.
Led by Dr. Virendra V. Ranevde, MD, our team ensures that each
EEG is performed with precision and interpreted with expert
insight.
What is an EEG?
An Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a non-invasive test that
records electrical activity in the brain using small electrodes
placed on the scalp. It’s especially helpful in evaluating
conditions like:
- Epilepsy and seizure disorders
- Unexplained fainting or blackouts
- Memory loss or confusion
- Sleep disturbances or abnormal behavior
- Brain injury or encephalopathy
Types of EEGs We Offer
Routine EEG (In-Office)
- Duration: 20–40 minutes
-
Where: Performed in our comfortable clinic
setting
-
Purpose: Captures brain activity in real time
during wakefulness and rest
-
Ideal for: Initial seizure evaluation,
altered mental status, or unexplained spells
You'll be asked to relax while a technician applies small
electrodes with a special paste. During the test, you'll be
asked to close your eyes, breathe deeply, and may be shown
flashing lights to observe your brain’s response.
Ambulatory EEG (At-Home)
-
Duration: 24–72 hours (portable monitoring)
-
Where: Done at home with a lightweight,
wearable device
-
Purpose: Captures brain activity during daily
activities, sleep, and potential seizure episodes
-
Ideal for: Detecting infrequent or
sleep-related seizures, or when routine EEG results are
inconclusive
We apply the electrodes and set up the device in our office.
You’ll wear a discreet EEG recorder home, return it after the
test, and Dr. Ranevde will interpret the data and share a
detailed report.
